We started with a single mission: Foster a love for the sport.
Our mission is to foster a love for table tennis in all students by training and educating all participants to become better athletes, independent learners, and responsible citizens of the world.
The story behind
Spin and Learn
Spin and Learn, initiated in 2018 by Dominican Table Tennis Champion Ms.Yasiris Ortiz and officially incorporated in 2020, is dedicated to introducing and fostering a love for table tennis across all New York City schools, both public and private.
Founded
The journey of Spin and Learn began with Ms. Ortiz's introduction of table tennis after-school programs in the Bronx. This inaugural year was marked by the initiation of new offerings for the community, including student tournaments, camps, and trips, making it a groundbreaking program in the area.
First Employee
Spin and Learn's expansion took flight as the program extended to two schools from District 7, PS1 and PS30. The after-school program became a staple in her daily routine, earning acclaim from school principals and generating excitement among students eager to participate.
3 Employees
A milestone year for Spin&Learn, as it evolved into an official corporation - Spin&Learn Inc. With growing interest from various schools, Ms. Ortiz began to recruit and train new coaches, focusing on honing their skills to become proficient table tennis coaches within the school system.
5 Employees
This year marked significant growth for Spin&Learn, as the program expanded its reach to five schools, thanks to the dedicated efforts of our coaches. Additionally, Spin&Learn achieved a notable milestone by becoming an MWBE (Minority/Women-owned Business Enterprise) certified business.
